Meet Ships Wheel, an Irish traditional ballad group consisting of four exceptionally talented members: Teresa on whistles, Ger on vocals, guitar, fiddle, and banjo, Michael on vocals, banjo, guitar and mandolin, and Joe on vocals, guitar and mandolin. This versatile, multi-instrumental ensemble delivers an incredible blend of rousing ballads, heartfelt love songs, foot-tapping jigs and reels, all served with a generous helping of craic during their mesmerising live performances.
Hailing from Balbriggan in North County Dublin, Ships Wheel has been captivating audiences since August 2022. Their sold-out show at the “Irish Institute of Music and Song” in Balbriggan raised nearly €1000 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The band’s rendition of “Lifeboat Mona” has received regular airplay on Clare FM’s West Wind show, hosted by acclaimed music and culture ambassador, Eoin O’Neill.
Influenced by legendary acts like The Dubliners, The Fureys, and Planxty, as well as iconic Irish traditional musicians such as Seamus Ennis, Tommy Peoples, Páraic Mac Donnchadha, and Paddy Cronin, Ships Wheel pays homage to the past while carving their own unique path in the Irish music scene.
