The Yankari Afrobeat Collective formed from a love of the music and rhythms from their Yoruba and Igbo cultures. They have created a groovy and energetic sound reminiscent of the Afrobeat greats of the 60s and 70s while incorporating contemporary sounds, such as, jazz, funk, dance, rock-and-roll. This new sound has world-wide appeal and the Yankari fan base stretches from Ireland to Japan, Brazil to Spain, Nigeria to US. A mix of heart, sweat and energy is what defines a Yankari performance.
